Lipson Cancer Institute

Offering Hope

The Lipson Cancer Institute was founded on a commitment to provide comprehensive cancer care from one integrated program. But comprehensive cancer care is more than just treating the physical disease. It’s providing comfort and strength in a time of adversity, and hope and reassurance of a long, healthy, cancer-free life.

When you donate to Lipson Cancer Institute, you’re making a frightening diagnosis easier to bear and easier to beat. You’re taking away the stress of finding transportation to treatments. You’re providing a relaxing and restorative space to receive infusions, and you’re supporting talented medical teams that bring the best in cancer care to our friends and neighbors.

A Focus on Our Patients

Because coping with the disease is often one of a person’s most difficult life experiences, we have made it our mission to ensure their treatments are as accessible and straightforward as possible. We’re doing this through:

  • The addition of 8 infusion chairs, 10 exam rooms, a new Breast Center, and new gynecologic oncology, surgical oncology, and research spaces at the Linden Oaks Medical Campus
  • A new outpatient Palliative Care Program at Linden Oaks, Rochester General Hospital, and Unity Hospital
  • New radiation oncology, medical oncology, palliative care, Breast Center, and research spaces at Unity Hospital
  • An entire floor of the new Sands-Constellation Center for Critical Care building at Rochester General Hospital dedicated to inpatient oncology
  • New, dedicated cancer pharmacies at Rochester General Hospital, United Memorial Medical Center, Unity Hospital, and Linden Oaks Medical Campus
  • Renovations and upgrades at Rochester General Hospital and St. Mary’s

We can’t control who cancer affects, but we’re doing everything in our power to make sure they can fight it close to home.

Approaching Treatment Differently

Staffed by highly trained and dedicated oncology teams, we are taking this pervasive disease head-on.

Each year, more than 250 of our patients participate in clinical trials. We employ the most up-to-date, innovative therapies and tap into the most promising research in cancer detection and diagnosis. This commitment to clinical innovation helps our patients enjoy higher success rates, fewer treatment-related side effects, and longer, healthier lives.

Thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to introduce the following advanced technologies to our patients:

  • IORT – We were the first in the region to offer this innovative approach of delivering radiation during breast cancer surgery
  • Vision RT – Surface guided delivery of radiation
  • THOR Laser – An innovative tool used to reduce the side effects of head and neck cancer treatments
  • RapidArc – A tool that allows for 360 degrees of radiation treatment
  • SAVI SCOUT – Radiation-free technology for surgical guidance and tumor localization

Our Impact, Together

A gift to the Lipson Cancer Institute is a gift to the entire community and generations to come. Until we discover how to eradicate cancer it will continue to be a part of our lives. As something we experience together, it’s something we should fight together.
